“Finding God in the Moment”
Lk. 4:24-30: . . . . .”Prophets are never welcome in their own hometown.” It is difficult to see the work of God in the familiar, it is hard to see God in those we know–we always want the exciting, the new, but it is only in the immediate that we come to know God at all. People volunteer, and they find themselves frustrated because they do not see changes in people and so they leave. I push them to see God in the moment, in the person–but they turn away because they want to see some drastic change or something new in different. I see God in “Steve”, who is 32 years old, been on the streets since he was 14. He trys to hustle, but he is not exactly prime material, but in him I see God each and every day. And that is hard for people to see–God present in people as they sufffer. We need to move beyond ourselves, our noralcy, and see God in the moment. Deo Gratias! Thanks be to God!
